Computer Literacy: An Important Skill

As I site here typing away on my keyboard, I realize that I am as comfortable holding a computer  mouse as I am holding a pen.

So, what is a Prezi?

I first heard about it after a delegate in Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology (Y4iT) – 20-24 September 2011 held at UP Diliman re-echoed his learning in the said event and told us that it was one of the trends in Technology for 2011.

Yes, it has a very unique and cool name, new to the cyberworld and it is of course FREE.

 But first, I want to explain what a Prezi is NOT:

• Prezi is not the executive CEO in a well known company. It's not a boss.
• Prezi is not a new, high-tech device like an iPad - although Prezi can be use in that device.
• Prezi is not an expression or slang language that you can utter anytime.

Now that Prezi is not what you think, so here it is: According to www.prezi.com, "A prezi allows you to create astonishing and stunning presentations live and on the web. Prezi is an application - an editor that lets you create prezi presentations. However, unlike many applications, Prezi can be used directly from an internet browser (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari) without the need to install anything. Prezi can also be installed (called this Prezi Desktop) so you can use it without internet access."

Naturally, it can boosts up your creative mind in building a unique, animated and effective presentations that you can't do using MS PowerPoint. If you are just using any web browsers, there is no need for you to install the application. Just go to their site, view and see some samples, discover and learn it and all the way you can easily share your presentations even to non-Prezi users. Also, compared to any presentation software, Prezi is known to be the Zooming Presentation Editor. Thus, it has zoom-in and zoom-out feature.

Prezi's basic version is of course free. It has an upgrade that can be acquired in a very reasonable cost. So no worries at all.

Prezi is a different tool that can spice up your next business meeting or presentations. It is fun to create presentations with Prezi in a minimum of time. So try for yourself and rest assured you will get something new from it.
